Stonnington Cares:
A Cluster Group Project.

The aim of the Stonnington Cares program is to assist in re-building social capital in drought-stressed Communities in the shire of Benalla. This program aims to provide connections between the people and organizations in Benalla and Stonnington - providing respite, business stimulation, and reducing isolation for families that are affected by drought.

Our Cluster Group is comprised of the Rotary Clubs of Prahran, Malvern, St Kilda, Chadstone-East Malvern, and Toorak. Each of these Clubs is responsible for different projects within the program, and Rotary Club of Prahrans first project was the Opening Event to Launch the Stonnington Cares program.

Held at the Benalla racecourse, the Launch had no entry fee, and for the Benalla Participants, there were 'show bags' that will include some essential household items. All goods and services for this event will be sourced in Benalla. There was information available from Beyond Blue and from financial counselling agencies.
Rotary Club of Benalla did a fantastic job of organising the attactions at the event and catering the lunches. The connection between city and country people was facilitated by the Rotary Cluster Group and the Rotary Club of Benalla, and also with assistance from the City of Benalla and The City of Stonnington.

The discussions on the day helped shape important programs that were delivered over the next two years, but also promoted valued friendships between Rotarians in Benalla and Prahran.
